Wall Street transaction tax

Dear Sir:

It is abominable to me that AFTER the banks and Wall Street have been given trillions of dollars the government is now talking of belt tightening without doing anything for all of the people suffering from joblessness and foreclosures.

This is appalling.  It seems that nothing will be done to assist actual people but corporations only.  I am sickened by this attitude.

In order to have any credibility at all you need to take action to help actual people in this country and that means a real jobs bill with considerable funding.

I am asking you to enact a bill to tax Wall Street trading.  We all pay sales tax, it’s about time the rich have to as well.  Goldman Sachs, and their ilk have sucked the lifeblood from this country and it is time to go where the money is.  Enact a securities trading tax of 1% on all trades, and that includes proprietary trading.  This would generate large revenues.  That money could be put to good use in social programs in this country like Medicare and Social Security as well as funding programs to help actual people.

Tobin tax is the answer; even Britain and the EU are considering the idea.  While you’re at it try closing ALL the loopholes that allow firms like Goldman Sachs to pay nearly ZERO in income taxes and/or increase the corporate tax rate.

This system is seriously broken as all the burden is place on the people of this country and the corporations and banks reap all of the benefits.

I’ll expect to hear from you soon on this issue.

Sincerely:

Save Social Security

Dear Sir:

I am hearing more and more talk lately of impending insolvency in Social Security.  This is a travesty as we are engaged in wars that siphon Billions of dollars unnecessarily and after the congress and the FED have spent many trillions in bailing out Wall Street and the banks.

I WILL NOT STAND FOR ANY TAMPERING WITH SOCIAL SECURITY!  It is bad enough that Medicare will now be rationed as a result of the egregious health care “reform” that has passed into law.

Is it time that you take action HERE and for the PEOPLE you supposedly represent by ensuring the viability of all social programs?  Yes, it is far past time.  So-called “belt tightening” now when the people need help is horrid.

Ending the wars of aggression abroad and enacting a Wall Street tax on transactions (turnover) like that being considered in the EU as well as Britain would provide immense revenue.  But it must be at a sufficient level to achieve that goal.  The proposals in the EU and Britain are far too paltry, we should be looking at the amount of 1% at a minimum on all turnover.

The second step in funding the social programs at home is to end the wars of aggression and bring our troops home, saving many billions of dollars which can be used here to help actual PEOPLE and not banks.  Close ALL loopholes in corporate tax laws and ensure that firms like Goldman Sachs actually pay income tax.

We the people are tired of footing the bill for these greedy corporations and getting nothing in return.  Work to save Social Security and save this country and its people.

I expect to hear from you soon on this issue.

Sincerely:

Oust Rahm Emmanuel

Dear Sir:

With all of the turmoil surrounding Israel and their flaunting of International law and gross human rights violations against the Palestinians in Gaza and elsewhere it is necessary to have some semblance of fairness towards the Palestinians.  If the administration’s intent is to have a say in bringing peace to that region it is imperative that we have a hard line stance with Israel and that we have credibility with the Palestinians as well as other Arab states.

Toward the end of establishing our credibility in this process it is necessary to get rid of people with influence who are so blatantly pro-Israel as to make the idea of fairness in this situation a mockery.

That is why I am asking you to seek he removal of Rahm Emmanuel as chief of staff of the White House.  This man might as well be an Israeli spy.  He has an Israeli passport; he served in the Israeli IDF.  How can the President have any credibility at all with this man as his chief of staff?  You might as well have Ariel Sharon as his chief of staff.

But not only is this a necessary thing for Mideast peace but it would also just be good overall.  Rahm is a terror and only serves to alienate people.  His ranting and rages are well known and his mental stability is seriously in doubt.

Please take action to see this man out of office and have someone stable and who is not a virtual envoy of Israel in his place.

Sincerely:

Rout Goldman Sachs from the government

Dear Sir:

I know I am beating a dead horse here but I am hopeful that someone will finally listen to me and explain to me the error in my thinking.  Goldman Sachs runs the US government through their “former” employees and fellow travelers.  You have much more than the appearance of impropriety; you have an outright takeover of economic policy in this country today.

Are you going to do anything about all of these people who mold and shape policy to the betterment of their “former” firm and friends in the industry and basically screw the people in this country?

You have Tim Geithner a tax cheat as head of the Treasury department who waits on orders from Goldman before doing anything.  You have Larry Summers a hanger-on and “former” Goldman employee who is just an outright embarrassment to the administration and this country, but also doing his best to help out his buddies in Goldman and fellow travelers on Wall Street.  And you have Ben Bernanke the head of the Federal Reserve that helped the economic crisis get WORSE by basically insuring the risky practices of all of his buddies on Wall Street with the power of the Federal Reserve and unlimited lending, at little or no interest rates.  Wouldn’t it be great to get your house without paying any interest?  Oh and let’s not forget he has ties to Goldman Sachs as well.

The US is a joke in the world right now.  It is widely reported that this administration is in thrall to this company and Wall Street in general.  Remember that this company is a snake amongst snakes.  They short sell their own clients.  They used OUR money to fund risky CDO’s in order to make MORE money.  They advised Greece in its collapse and made money in the bargain with the failure of their economy.

Will you, at last, take steps to have these people REMOVED from office?  And send a clear message that the US is not the toy of Goldman Sachs and Wall Street.

I don’t want excuses I want ACTION.  This is a travesty and a farce.

Sincerely:

Net Neutrality

Dear Sir:

Recently the FCC lost a court case with Comcast on the issue of Net Neutrality.  The court ruled that the FCC did not have the power to regulate the Net in that way.

Net Neutrality is a very important issue as it may lead to silencing dissenting opinion on the Internet.  The Internet is a vital service and ISP’s need to be regulated to ensure that they provide the same service to all.  For this reason I am writing to demand that you take action to give the FCC the authority to enforce Net Neutrality on ISP’s.

I will not stand for having my speeds tampered with while I pay the same rate as others.  This is a key issue and needs to be addressed, and quickly.

Support Net Neutrality!

Sincerely:
